The GPCR Database was designed for Invitrogen, which is now called Life Technologies. This MS Access database was used by scientists and technicians to record and evaluate the results of gene research. GPCR uses VBA on the backend to calculate formulas based on entries, and then write the results to database. Many of the fields relied on the VBA backend code to properly handle scientific notation and other unique scientific formattings. The users also had the option to have GPCR produce merged letters and reports of the data.

Sandi Sawyer followed the SDLC (System Development Lifecycle): Interpreting and converting the users' vision, verbal concepts, and Excel spreadsheet system into a complete application which streamlined the work of the researchers. Sandi was solely responsible for the design, development, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
